The Baltic States quality assurance agencies meeting in Vilnius: attention to professional education

On September 6-7th the 6th joint Baltic states quality assurance agencies meeting takes place in Vilnius.
 
According to the director of Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC) Mrs Nora Skaburskiene, this meeting is special because of higher attention paid to the quality assurance of professional education.
 
The number of attendants of this year meeting that is organized in Lithuania breaks the records.
 
"We are happy that Estonian and Latvian quality assurance agencies made it possible for most of their specialists to take part. This brings high value both for agencies and their employees. Agencies can discuss, present their specifics, best practices and lessons learned while specialist have great opportunity to share experience and talk to those colleagues that carry on similar responsibilities", - Ms Aurelija Valeikiene, Deputy Director of SKVC, says.
 
The closer attention was devoted to social partners' participation and communication area.
 
In addition each country shared information about on the new developments in the national system of education, including legislative  framework,  system  of  quality  assurance, qualification  frameworks, recognition, projects, publications, and other important matters.
 
During the meeting, such topics as requirements and implementation of Standards  and  Guidelines  for Quality  Assurance  in  the  European  Higher  Education  Area  (ESG-2015), how quality assurance takes into account the needs and expectations of stakeholders and society and what kind of tasks and challenges are expected in the future were discussed.
 
 
In the coming year 2017, the joint Baltic states quality assurance agencies meeting will be organized by Estonia.
The first such meeting took part in Estonia in 2011.
