Degrees, qualifications

Post-graduate study courses are organised as specialist studies in the field of medicine which may last up to 4 years) – and as Master degree study programmes which last 2 years.

The duration of post-graduate study courses varies from 1 year studies leading to a higher/graduate diploma – 2 years for a Master degree (Master’s studies).

A doctorate degree is granted upon successful defence of a scientific work – the Doctorate dissertation – after a Master degree has been obtained.

The new Law on Higher Education, which is still being prepared at present, sets forth the introduction of Doctorate studies – in addition to primary degree corses and post-graduate programmes – as a way to obtain a Doctorate degree. The right to admission, i.e. to the registering of a Doctorate dissertation, may be granted to an individual in possession of a Master degree – or a higher/graduate diploma in medicine – provided the Doctorate candidate has publicly defended a thesis at the Master level.
