Higher Education in Romania is regulated by the Law on the Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions and the Recognition of Diplomas No 88/1993 and by the Law on Education No. 84/1995 as amended by Governmental Ordinance No. 36/1997.

UNESCO Convention of the Recognition of Studies, Diplomas and Degrees Concerning Higher Education in the States Belonging to the Europe Region, 1 March, 1979

Lisabonne Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region (just ratified by the Romanian Parlament, September 1998) European Convention on the Equivalence of Diplomas leading to admission to Universities (1953,ETS No.15).

European Convention on the Equivalence of Periods of University Dtudy (1956,ETS no.21)
