On the March 16th of 2021 the extended list of regulated professions in Lithuania entered into force. It now consists of 44 regulated professions, including the new added as medical geneticist, medical psychologist, optometrist, paramedic, radiology technologist, ambulance paramedic, advanced practice nurse and advanced practice pharmacist.

Vilnius Cooperative College (Vilniaus kooperacijos kolegija) is closing and will no longer be offering higher education. Its license for provision of higher education and activities related to higher education has been revoked by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Sports on 11 January 2021 (Order No V-45) after the notification and request by the college.

On the 3rd of December the annual meeting of the ENIC/NARIC centers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania took place online. Such meetings are usually held in the first quarter of the year, at the one of the countries. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the date and format of the meeting were changed.

External evaluations of study fields has been launched, on the basis of which study fields will be accredited. Visits of international expert panels to higher education institutions will take place in November-December this year and the scope of evaluation will cover 8 study fields – dental hygiene, electrical engineering, history, literature, mechanical engineering, art history, regional studies and transport engineering.

The Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC) informs that as of 28 October, in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, visitors will temporarily be served remotely. Consultations will be provided by phone and email, while applications will be accepted online. Applications for academic recognition of foreign qualifications are accepted via the Electronic Recognition Area (EPE IS).

Today the third meeting of the I-Comply project partners took place. The partners discussed the work done and further planned to improve academic recognition across the countries. The representatives of Estonia, Denmark, France, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, and Ukraine participated at the meeting.

On 3 August, in Vilnius, the Minister of Education, Science and Sport of Lithuania Algirdas Monkevičius and the Minister of Higher Education and Science of Poland Wojciech Murdzek signed an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Lithuania and the Government of the Republic of Poland on mutual recognition of qualifications concerning higher education and periods of study.

Aurelija Valeikienė, Deputy Director of SKVC, participated in a meeting of the international Micro-credentials Consultation Group organized by the European Commission by the means of a video conference. During the discussion, the definition of micro-credentials and the instruments ensuring their transparency were discussed.
