The declaration of intent on the automatic mutual recognition of higher education degrees was signed

2019-11-08

On 8 November 2019, in Brussels Ministers of education of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg signed a declaration of intent on the automatic mutual recognition of higher education degrees.

The Benelux countries and the Baltic States were the first European countries to implement automatic recognition of foreign qualifications through the adoption of relevant regional treaties. Automatic recognition allows employers and higher education institutions to understand the value of foreign qualifications faster and easier, and holders of foreign qualifications - avoid additional costs and lengthy procedures when looking for a job or entering higher education. SKVC actively cooperates with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports of the Republic of Lithuania and foreign partners in preparation for the automatic recognition of qualifications in the Benelux and Baltic countries. In the nearest future drafting of the interregional treaty will start.
