On 22 May 2019 Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC) hosts the international conference of LIREQA project „Linking Academic Recognition and Quality Assurance“ as a final event of the project, co-financed by the European Commission.
“1.4. Student admission, progression, recognition and certification
Standard: Institutions should consistently apply pre-defined and published regulations covering all phases of the student “life cycle”, e.g. student admission, progression, recognition and certification.
Fair recognition of higher education qualifications, periods of study and prior learning, including the recognition of non-formal and informal learning, are essential components for ensuring the students’ progress in their studies, while promoting mobility. Appropriate recognition procedures rely on:
- institutional practice for recognition being in line with the principles of the Lisbon Recognition Convention;
- cooperation with other institutions, quality assurance agencies and the national ENIC/NARIC centre with a view to ensuring coherent recognition across the country.”
Linking internal and external quality assurance with recognition is still a challenge in the Bologna Process. Recommendations, produced by LIREQA project consortium are addressed to higher education institutions, quality assurance agencies, academic recognition centres, also the networks of stakeholders, proposing concrete measures what should be done to improve the situation. During the conference, we will relate to the already existing tools and the set of LIREQA recommendations in order to promote recognition for the benefit of students.
During the conference representatives of the main stakeholder organizations – ESU, EUA, ENQA – will address participants, and members of ENIC/NARIC network as well as President of the Lisbon Recognition Convention Committee will take part.
The event is targeted at administration and academics within higher education institutions, responsible for quality assurance, international relations, admission and recognition, also students, public authorities, international organizations. We invite to discuss and share best practices.
