Annual Baltic meeting of Quality Assurance Agencies

On 10-11 September Annual Baltic meeting of Quality Assurance Agencies was held in Jūrmala (Latvia), during which each country gave an overview of current activities, work methods and future plans.

Latvian Academic information center (AIC), which participated in the meeting, is already operating for 21 year. Since the middle of this year AIC was granted with a new function of external evaluation of study fields and higher education institutions in Latvia.

The chair o f the AIC presented Report on Progress on implementation of the Bologna Process. Discussions were carried out about the changes that have been made in Lithuania and Estonia since this report was finalized.

It was also discussed about the revised European standarts and Guidelines for quality assurance in higher education (ESG) and about the planned changes in the methodologies and the legislation.

Each country presented national requirements for designing of Joint programmes and evaluation of them.

The representatives of Lithuania and Latvia shared their experiences of evaluations that were carried abroad, main practical aspects while coordinating abroad quality assurance. Lithuania presented the experience in evaluating study programmes and the higher education institution in Slovenia and the colleagues from Estonia - MA programmes in Law in Moldova.

The next Annual Baltic meeting of Quality Assurance Agencies will be oganized by SKVC in Lithuania.
