On 3rd of October 2023 SKVC has been granted the right of recognition by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). WFME Recognition Status has been awarded to SKVC for ten years with immediate effect.
It is expected that the WFME recognition will contribute to increased opportunities to enhance the attractiveness of Lithuanian higher education and to expand cooperation in the fields of medical education and scientific development.
From now on, the SKVC will provide universities offering medical studies with an additional WFME quality label as part of the external evaluation of study fields. It will help these higher education institutions to be globally competitive and attractive to foreign students choosing to study medicine in Lithuania and to Lithuanian medical graduates wishing to pursue further practice and research in the USA and Canada. WFME accreditation will enable medical experts from Lithuanian universities to be involved in WFME assessments in other countries. WFME recognition is a matter of prestige for Lithuania as a whole - both for the universities preparing medical students to meet international standards of medical education and for SKVC as a quality agency.
